Physical Therapist - Acute Inpatient

Location: Bakersfield, California

Start Date: 06-15-2026

End Date: 09-14-2026

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; occasional late shift 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM; weekend rotation every third weekend (Saturday and Sunday) with Monday and Friday off.

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $59 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and treatments for acute inpatient patients with diverse diagnoses, including orthopedics, neurology, and deconditioning
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve patient mobility, function, and quality of life
Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team across Medical/Surgical, ICU, and ER units
Supervise and guide rehab aide to ensure efficient and effective patient care
Document patient progress accurately and adjust treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes
Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and fall prevention strategies

Qualifications

Active California Physical Therapy (PT) license required
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Minimum 1 year of acute inpatient physical therapy experience required
Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment with a variety of patient acuities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in acute inpatient rehabilitation and patient assessment
Proficiency in treating orthopedic, neurologic, and deconditioned patient populations
Ability to develop and modify treatment plans based on patient progress
Effective time management and organizational skills to manage a caseload of 12+ patients per day
Computer proficiency for electronic health record documentation
