Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of echocardiogram studies (Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal, exercise stress and pharmacological echocardiography) with precision and care
• Conduct cardiac diagnostic testing including EKGs, Holter prep/monitoring/analysis, and cardiac stress tests to provide high-quality clinical data
• Operate and maintain cardiac diagnostic equipment—echocardiographs, stress systems, electrocardiographs, Holter monitors—and ensure accurate computer analysis
• Accurately document scheduling, processing and charge capture in hospital information systems to support billing and clinical workflows
• Apply strict infection control and aseptic techniques, including proper disinfection of equipment, to protect patients and staff
• Provide preceptorship and clinical instruction to students from partnered colleges and universities, sharing best practices and supporting learning
• Deliver age-specific care across the lifespan, including neonatal and pediatric patients, adapting techniques and communication accordingly
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams as a clinical resource to support patient-centered care

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; completion of a cardiovascular sonography certificate program preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential required
• Successful completion of an echocardiography certification program and/or minimum two years hands-on echocardiography experience
• Preferred: extensive hospital echocardiography experience, including pediatric and neonatal studies
• Comfort and experience providing clinical instruction or preceptorship to students

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Certificate program in Cardiovascular Sonography (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of transthoracic, transesophageal, M-Mode and Doppler echocardiography techniques
• Experienced with exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiography protocols
• Proficient in EKG and Holter monitoring setup, analysis and interpretation
• Skilled in operating and troubleshooting echocardiography and cardiac stress equipment
• Familiarity with hospital information systems for scheduling, processing and charge entry
• Working knowledge of infection control, aseptic techniques and equipment disinfection procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff and patients of all ages
