Roles & Responsibilities

Perform sonographic examinations of all body parts for diagnostic interpretation by radiologists
Exercise professional judgment applying principles of radiation protection
Maintain patient records and ensure departmental quality assurance
Pursue continuing education and assist with invasive ultrasound procedures
Consult with referring physicians and care for equipment like transducers and Trophon stations
Rotate shifts as needed and step up in the supervisor's absence
Work across ultrasound fields like general, vascular, or cardiac to make a real impact

Qualifications

Current ARDMS certification in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS)
Experience performing diagnostic exams in assigned ultrasound modality
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association
Ability to handle patients across all age groups from newborn to geriatric

Education

Pursue continuing education to meet RDMS requirements
Actively seek higher education levels with RDMS certifications in multiple modalities

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of growth and development principles over the life span
Skills in diagnostic medical sonography across body parts
Ability to assess patient status and provide age-appropriate care
Proficiency in ultrasound procedures, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance
