Roles & Responsibilities

Deliver top-notch age-specific dental care to patients from infants to geriatrics
Educate patients on preventing oral disease with a focus on hygiene, home care, and nutrition
Perform thorough oral examinations, periodontal therapy, coronal polishing, and topical fluoride applications
Take precise x-rays and monitor vital signs like pulse, blood pressure, and temperature
Manage patient schedules smoothly to keep things running efficiently
Lead dental prevention activities at health fairs, sealant clinics, and Head Start programs
Maintain and sterilize hygienist supplies and instruments meticulously

Qualifications

Graduate of a two-year Dental Hygiene Program, Bachelor's Degree preferred
Active Dental Hygiene License in Alaska or another U.S. state (Alaska preferred)
BLS certification required within 45 days of start
Clinical Competency within 3 months and every 3 years
High Risk Competency within 3 months and annually

Education

Graduate of a two-year Dental Hygiene Program
Bachelor's Degree preferred
High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in proper infection control techniques
Deep knowledge of dental and periodontal disease principles and treatments
Skilled in clinical hygiene, oral and written communication, and accurate clinical judgment
Strong hand dexterity for detailed work
Ability to sit over patients for extended periods
