Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide holistic medical social services to patients and families to address physical, social, emotional, and environmental barriers to health
• Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments for patients across the lifespan
• Develop and implement care and discharge plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Advocate for patient needs with families, community agencies, and other healthcare providers
• Deliver culturally sensitive support and education, honoring Yup'ik traditions and local practices
• Perform supervisory tasks and provide guidance to staff when the supervisor is away
• Document interventions, progress, and outcomes clearly in the patient record
• Coordinate community resources and referrals to support continuity of care

Qualifications

• MSW (Master of Social Work) from an accredited school of Social Work
• State of Alaska license at Master level (LMSW) required
• Valid Alaska driver’s license required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a hospital or health-care setting
• Basic computer skills for documentation and communication
• Bilingual English & Yup'ik preferred — cross-cultural experience highly valued
• Ability to read, write, and present information at the college level
• Comfort performing supervisory duties and working independently when necessary
