Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by selecting and arranging instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure a safe, efficient sterile field throughout procedures
• Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons promptly and anticipate needs during cases
• Assist with instrument counts and documentation to support patient safety
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers to ensure smooth case flow
• Clean, decontaminate, and prepare instruments and equipment after procedures
• Communicate clearly and professionally with the OR team and support staff

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training
• Certification as a CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) preferred or willingness to obtain certification
• Current basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
• Prior operating room or surgical tech experience preferred; new grads who have completed clinical rotations are encouraged to apply
• Strong attention to detail, reliable work ethic, and ability to work well in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Ability to pass facility background checks and meet credentialing requirements

Education

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (or equivalent certificate/diploma)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and infection control principles
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and respond quickly
• Good documentation and counting skills for instruments and specimens
• Effective communication and teamwork in the operating room
• Basic troubleshooting for OR equipment and ability to follow established protocols
