Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative care in the ambulatory surgery setting including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative support
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field, instruments, and supplies for a variety of outpatient surgical procedures
• Anticipate surgeon and team needs during cases to keep procedures running smoothly
• Perform instrument counts and documentation to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with nurses, anesthesia, and providers to deliver coordinated patient-centered care
• Teach and mentor newer team members and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
• Use electronic systems and computer applications for charting, supply tracking, and case documentation

Qualifications

• Current surgical technologist certification to practice in Oregon
• Certification as a surgical technologist (NBSTSA) or completion of a CAAHEP/ABHES accredited program
• Healthcare Provider BLS required
• Preferred: ambulatory surgical center experience and familiarity with pediatric through geriatric populations
• Demonstrated competency through clinical training or equivalent military/federal experience
• Preferred: experience or comfort using computer applications for clinical documentation

Education

• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program (CAAHEP or ABHES) or equivalent military/federal training
• Or documented qualifying practice experience as described in employer options
• Ongoing continuing education: 16 hours every two years relevant to surgical technology practice

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases
• Ambulatory surgery workflows and outpatient procedural needs
• Aseptic technique and sterile instrumentation handling
• Pediatric and adult surgical patient considerations
• Proficiency with common clinical computer applications
• Familiarity with NBSTSA standards and CAAHEP/ABHES education outcomes
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced OR environment
