Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-op orthopedic nursing care to a 32-room unit with compassion and attention
• Perform dressing changes and suture/staple removal with safe, evidence-based technique
• Manage Foley catheters and NG tubes, ensuring patient comfort and proper documentation
• Maintain and remove Wound Vac systems as required and monitor wound healing progress
• Document all care accurately in the Cerner EMR to keep the team informed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe discharges and rehab plans
• Support unit flow while working within established patient ratios and adapting to fast-paced needs

Qualifications

• Active NC RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience (per posting)
• Orthopedic nursing experience preferred
• Hospital/Med-Surg experience preferred
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR
• Willingness to float to other Med-Surg units and work overnight schedules, including every other weekend

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing fundamentals and post-operative care
• Wound care and Wound Vac maintenance
• Foley catheter and NG tube management
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record
• Patient mobility and safe lift equipment (Sara Stedy, Maxi Move, lifts)
• Strong assessment, prioritization, and communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a team and adapt to a fast-paced unit
