Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support for NICU and pediatric patients with confidence
• Perform intubations and extubations, contributing to critical airway management
• Collect and analyze capillary and arterial blood gases to inform timely clinical decisions
• Operate and troubleshoot neonatal and pediatric ventilators (Draeger, Hamilton, Newport, HFOV, Infant Flow SiPAP) and high-flow devices
• Provide respiratory support during high-risk deliveries and emergent situations
• Document care accurately in Cerner EMR and communicate changes clearly with the care team
• Float to general adult med floors as needed, bringing versatility and teamwork
• Contribute to a safe, family-centered environment while advocating for patient needs

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina Respiratory License (required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (required)
• BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (required)
• Minimum 2+ years of clinical respiratory therapy experience (NICU/Peds experience preferred)
• Comfortable with neonatal/pediatric ventilators, transport vents, and advanced respiratory modalities
• Cerner EMR experience is a plus
• ACLS and NPS considered nice-to-have

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in ventilator management and neonatal/pediatric respiratory care
• Skilled in airway management including intubation and extubation
• Proficient in arterial and capillary blood gas collection and interpretation
• Familiarity with Draeger, Hamilton, Newport transport vents, HFOV, Vapotherm, and high-flow devices
• Experience documenting and navigating Cerner EMR
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork in high-acuity environments
