Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilator settings and perform advanced ventilator management for adult, neonatal and pediatric patients
• Provide bedside respiratory care in critical care and NICU/Peds service lines
• Operate and troubleshoot equipment such as GE R860, Draeger infant/peds vents, Newport HT70 transport vents, V60, Vapotherm and Comfort Flow
• Perform safe patient transports using transport ventilators and collaborate with transport teams
• Document assessments, interventions and ventilator changes in the EMR (Cerner) accurately and promptly
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary ICU teams to develop and implement patient-focused respiratory plans
• Educate patients, families and staff on respiratory therapies and equipment use
• Adhere to unit policies, maintain required certifications and promote patient safety at all times

Qualifications

• North Carolina Respiratory License (required)
• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) required
• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience preferred (critical care/ventilator experience ideal)
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS required
• NRP preferred
• Comfortable working rotating nights and varying weekends
• Experience with Cerner EMR and common ventilator/equipment types is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong ventilator management and weaning skills across adult, neonatal and pediatric populations
• Familiarity with GE R860, Draeger infant/peds vents, Newport HT70, V60, Vapotherm and Comfort Flow
• Skilled in transport ventilator operation and bedside troubleshooting
• Proficient documentation in Cerner EMR
• Excellent critical thinking, communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Ability to prioritize patient safety and deliver compassionate care under pressure
