Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care for adult, pediatric and neonatal patients on night shift
• Manage ventilators and advanced airway therapies, adjusting settings and monitoring responses
• Perform assessments, interpret arterial blood gases, and implement evidence-based interventions
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses and allied staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Respond quickly to emergencies and participate in resuscitation efforts when needed
• Document care accurately and thoroughly while maintaining clear communication across shifts
• Participate in required competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical readiness

Qualifications

• Current, active Respiratory Therapy license (verification required)
• BLS required; PALS, ACLS, NRP and DCI/BVP certifications required
• Traveler assignment experience preferred and ability to adapt quickly to new units
• Must be available for night shifts, every other weekend and every other holiday
• Successful completion of drug screen, TB test, required immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Hep B, Influenza) and fit testing
• Willingness to complete Prime Core Competencies Exam and Prime Skills Checklist
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking and ability to work independently on night shift
• License/certificate verification and background screening must be completed prior to start

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and advanced airway skills
• Arterial blood gas interpretation and respiratory assessment
• Pediatric and neonatal resuscitation knowledge (PALS, NRP)
• Cardiopulmonary support skills (ACLS familiarity)
• Strong documentation and electronic charting abilities
• Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams
• Excellent critical thinking, emergency response and patient advocacy skills
• Flexibility with scheduling and adapting to traveler assignment workflows
