Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care to neonates in the NICU, including advanced airway management
• Perform neonatal intubation and assist with neonatal resuscitation efforts when needed
• Manage ventilators and respiratory support devices with careful monitoring and adjustment
• Collaborate closely with neonatologists, nurses, and the multidisciplinary NICU team to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of respiratory assessments, interventions, and equipment use
• Complete required competency exams, specialty checklists, and skills validations
• Ensure infection control practices and equipment readiness to keep the smallest patients safe
• Participate in shift handoffs and communicate changes in patient status clearly and professionally

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license (state licensure required)
• Demonstrated proficiency in neonatal intubation (required)
• NICU respiratory care experience preferred
• Certifications: BLS, PALS, ACLS, NRP, and DCI/BVP (listed in job requirements)
• Successful completion of license/certificate verification and required competency exams
• Ability to pass health screenings and immunization requirements (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB testing, Hep B, influenza, Varicella, Tdap)
• Clear drug screen (minimum 10-panel) and fit test completion

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of neonatal respiratory anatomy, physiology, and resuscitation principles
• Skilled in ventilator management and troubleshooting for neonates
• Ability to perform neonatal intubation and advanced airway procedures with confidence
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and rapid decision-making skills in high-acuity settings
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration in the NICU
• Familiarity with infection control, neonatal monitoring, and bedside equipment maintenance
