Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips, signing at least once per shift to ensure patient safety
• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for patients with CHF, respiratory issues, GI conditions, diabetes, post-cath status, and total joint replacements
• Administer and monitor set-rate drips such as diltiazem/cardizem per unit protocol
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including RTs, monitor techs, charge nurses, and house supervisors
• Document patient assessments and interventions accurately in Cerner during and after each shift
• Float to other units (East Campus or PCU) as needed while maintaining high standards of care
• Participate in orientation and complete required competency exams prior to contract start

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the appropriate state and eligibility to work in the U.S.
• BLS and ACLS certification required prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience preferred
• Demonstrated experience reading basic telemetry strips; ability to pass dysrhythmia exam (80% required) within two attempts
• Cerner experience recommended (one day of unit orientation only)
• Experience with CVA/TIA care, CPAP/BiPAP, and total joint replacement postoperative care preferred
• Must meet radius/employment restrictions: not currently or within the past year FT/PT/PRN with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity-affiliated facilities within 50 miles

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required (preferred but optional)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and ECG/dysrhythmia interpretation
• Proficient in electronic charting (Cerner) and clinical documentation
• Familiarity with respiratory support modalities: CPAP, BiPAP, and breathing treatments
• Ability to manage common acute care diagnoses: CHF, respiratory illness, post-cath, diabetes, and GI issues
• Comfort with unit workflows: interpreting and signing tele strips, following set-rate drip protocols
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for fast-paced acute care settings
