Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide excellent perioperative nursing care to surgical patients, ensuring safety and comfort
• Prepare the operating room and instruments, maintaining strict sterile technique
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical techs for smooth procedures
• Monitor patient status intraoperatively and communicate changes clearly and promptly
• Educate patients and families on perioperative expectations and recovery plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and OR efficiency

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license with Nursys verification (California eligibility required)
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Surgical nursing or operating room experience preferred; traveler-ready mindset
• Completion of required facility screenings and checks including drug screen and TB testing
• Current immunizations per facility policy including COVID-19 and influenza as required
• Pass required competency exams and skills checklists as part of credentialing

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), Nursing diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Completion of required facility orientation and competency training

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of operating room procedures and sterile techniques
• Proficiency in patient monitoring and early recognition of perioperative complications
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and perform under the pace of the OR
• Excellent communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary surgical teams
• Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic health record workflows
