Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to PCU Neurosciences patients
• Perform focused neurological assessments and apply the NIH stroke scale when indicated
• Administer medications safely and perform IV starts and Foley insertions as needed
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner
• Monitor patient status, escalate changes promptly, and implement ACLS protocols when required
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, CNAs, and other team members to develop and update individualized care plans
• Support unit flow and patient ratios on both day and night shifts, and float to other med-surg floors as needed

Qualifications

• Active RN (Registered Nurse) license (state of practice requirements apply)
• ACLS and NIH certifications required
• Experience in PCU or neuroscience/med-surg settings preferred
• Comfortable with IV starts and Foley insertions
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR strongly preferred
• Outgoing, self-motivated professional who thrives in a collaborative environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Neurological assessment and monitoring
• NIH stroke scale proficiency
• ACLS protocol knowledge and emergency response
• IV insertion and Foley catheter procedure skills
• Comfort with standard med-surg equipment
• Clinical documentation and workflows in Cerner
• Ability to manage patient ratios typical to PCU settings
