Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, skilled nursing care for Progressive Care Unit (PCU) patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and continuously monitor clinical status
• Interpret telemetry and cardiac monitoring to detect and respond to changes
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
• Document patient care clearly and timely in the electronic health record
• Respond rapidly to emergencies and escalate concerns to appropriate clinicians

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (appropriate for assignment in North Carolina)
• 2+ years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or step-down nursing experience
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Comfortable managing telemetry, cardiac rhythms, and higher-acuity patients
• Ability to work overnight shifts and collaborate in a fast-paced environment
• Meet standard travel assignment requirements (health screening, background checks, credentialing)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Clinical assessment and critical-thinking for evolving patient conditions
• IV medication administration and infusion pump familiarity
• Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Time management and prioritization in a busy PCU setting
