Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality care to critically ill infants and children in the PICU
• Monitor and manage complex pediatric patients using advanced assessment and critical thinking
• Operate and troubleshoot PICU equipment and meditech EMR documentation accurately
• Perform unit procedures such as chest tube management and lumbar punctures with confidence
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapy, and the full interdisciplinary team
• Respond to seizures and acute events using evidence-based interventions and calm leadership
• Contribute to a supportive team culture where everyone helps everyone

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas or eligible for compact/reciprocal licensing
• Minimum 1 year of recent PICU or comparable pediatric critical care experience
• Required certifications: BLS and PALS
• ACLS preferred and other pediatric-critical-care certifications a plus
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
• Comfortable floating to NICU level 1 or 2 as needed

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN; BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong pediatric critical care assessment and monitoring skills
• Experience with noninvasive cardiology monitoring and seizure management
• Skilled in chest tube management and lumbar puncture assistance
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR for accurate charting and communication
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and patient-family centered care approach
