Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to PCU patients and elevate their recovery
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, vital signs, and clinical trends to catch changes early
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans
• Educate patients and families on condition management, discharge planning, and follow-up
• Respond promptly to emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions
• Document care clearly and timely in the electronic health record to ensure continuity

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas (or compact RN with Texas eligibility)
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or progressive care experience
• Current BLS (required); ACLS and other critical care certifications preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in a higher-acuity setting
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, adapt quickly, and communicate effectively with the team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• IV therapy, medication administration, and infusion pump management
• Patient assessment, care planning, and documentation best practices
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems
• Effective communication, teamwork, and patient/family education
