Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor post-anesthesia patients closely and respond quickly to changes in condition
• Manage pain and administer IV fluids and medications to support recovery
• Perform systematic patient assessments and document findings clearly
• Collaborate with anesthesia and surgical teams to ensure safe transitions of care
• Recognize and intervene for postoperative complications and escalate when needed
• Provide compassionate education and discharge planning to patients and families
• Maintain PACU equipment and follow infection control and safety protocols

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Oregon RN license required upon submission
• Healthcare Provider BLS required
• AHA ACLS and PALS required (NLH PACU requirement)
• PACU experience preferred; one (1) year PACU or critical care experience preferred
• Comfortable with IV/fluids administration, vital signs monitoring, and post-anesthesia care

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia care and anesthesia recovery best practices
• Vital signs monitoring and early recognition of instability
• Pain management strategies and medication administration
• IV fluid management and secure IV therapy
• Strong patient assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills
• Clear communication with multidisciplinary teams and patient education
