Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to oncology and women’s surgical patients on the K9A unit
• Perform assessments, develop and implement nursing care plans, and coordinate multidisciplinary care
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following oncology protocols and standards
• Use Cerner EMR to document patient status, interventions, and communication with the care team
• Support patients and families through education, symptom management, and emotional support
• Participate in unit practices such as pelvic exams, echocardiography monitoring collaboration, and thoracentesis support as needed
• Contribute to a positive team culture by communicating clearly, mentoring colleagues, and participating in unit initiatives

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of practice) — required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (clinical experience in oncology or med-surg preferred)
• Experience with Cerner EMR strongly preferred
• Chemo certification preferred but not required — candidates with chemo experience will be prioritized
• Comfortable with occasional pelvic exams and assisting with or supporting procedures like echo and thoracentesis
• Team-player attitude and willingness to learn in a busy oncology/women’s surgical setting

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid oncology and post-surgical patient care knowledge
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical record workflows
• Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and medication administration skills
• Ability to manage 1:4 or 1:5 patient ratios safely and efficiently
• Clear communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Comfort with standard unit equipment and common inpatient procedures
