Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate oncology nursing care to patients on the Oncology/Women's Surgical unit
• Administer treatments and manage chemotherapy per protocol and unit guidelines
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor for changes in condition
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with physicians, CNAs, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
• Support patients and families with education, discharge planning, and emotional support
• Assist with unit procedures as needed, including occasional pelvic exams, echo support, and thoracentesis assistance
• Adhere to hospital policies, infection control standards, and dress code expectations

Qualifications

• Current RN license (required) — ready to practice and proud of it
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (as posted)
• Oncology experience preferred; comfort with chemotherapy administration is a plus
• Chemo Certification preferred but not mandatory
• Experience with Cerner EMR or similar electronic charting systems
• Med-surg experience preferred and ability to work with 1:4–1:5 patient ratios
• Comfort participating in occasional pelvic exams and assisting with procedures like thoracentesis

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong oncology nursing knowledge including infusion and symptom management
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for accurate documentation and medication administration
• Excellent assessment, clinical judgment, and critical thinking skills
• Clear communication and teamwork skills for a collaborative unit environment
• Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced med-surg/oncology setting
• Compassionate patient and family education skills
