Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered oncology nursing care on a 24-bed oncology/women's surgical unit
• Perform safe medication administration and monitoring, including chemo-related therapies when certified
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients with complex oncology needs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, discharge planning, and patient education
• Document patient status and care in the Cerner EMR accurately and in a timely manner
• Support unit workflow during busy periods and assist with patient assignments to maintain safe staffing ratios

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for North Carolina (or compact RN where applicable)
• Minimum of 2 years of professional RN experience (oncology experience strongly preferred)
• BLS certification required
• CNA license helpful if applying for CNA roles noted; oncology chemo certification preferred
• Comfortable using Cerner or similar EMR systems
• Team-oriented attitude and willingness to learn unit-specific procedures

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical oncology nursing practices and familiarity with chemo-related care
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for documentation and medication administration
• Ability to manage patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5 with strong prioritization skills
• Skill with common unit procedures such as thoracentesis support and pelvic exam assistance
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient education skills
• Adherence to hospital policies, safety protocols, and unit-specific dress code
