Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms to keep patients safe
• Provide skilled Med/Surg and PCU/Stepdown nursing care for adults, including oncology patients
• Start and maintain IVs, manage PICC and central lines, and administer blood products safely
• Respond confidently as part of Rapid Response and Code teams during emergencies
• Manage respiratory supports including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care
• Perform pre/post hemodialysis support and feeding tube care as needed
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Social Services) to optimize patient outcomes
• Work safely and professionally in a secured corrections unit environment, following CO access protocols

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (must meet within the 3 most recent years) with at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
• Epic charting experience required
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Comfort and ability to work in a locked corrections unit and follow corrections officer access procedures
• Ability to float between MS/Telemetry and PCU/Stepdown as needed
• Completion of 72-hour orientation prior to independent practice on unit

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV therapy and phlebotomy, PICC and central line care, arterial line management
• Blood product administration and heparin protocol familiarity
• Respiratory support skills: BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, ABG interpretation
• Feeding tube care and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams and emergency response skills
• Oncology care basics including monitoring chemotherapy
• Isolation precautions, PPE use, and strong infection control practices
