Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate nursing care to laboring patients and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum
• Continuously monitor maternal and fetal status using appropriate fetal monitoring and assessment tools
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia, and neonatal teams to coordinate safe, timely deliveries
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn assessments as needed
• Document clinical findings, interventions, and care plans accurately in the patient record
• Educate patients and families on labor progression, delivery options, postpartum care, and newborn care
• Respond swiftly and effectively to obstetric emergencies and escalate concerns per unit protocols
• Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and maintain required checklist proficiencies

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (will undergo License/Certificate Verification)
• Certifications required: BLS, NRP, NIHSS
• Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Current healthcare-required immunizations and screenings (COVID-19, MMR, Varicella, Hep B, Influenza, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Fit Test)
• Successful completion of Trinity 10 panel drug screen and physical/health statement
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced L&D environment

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in fetal monitoring interpretation and maternal assessments
• Neonatal resuscitation knowledge and immediate newborn care
• Proficient with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and advocate for patients
• Calm under pressure with strong critical thinking and emergency response skills
• Patient education and family-centered care approach
