Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity, compassionate care to critically ill patients in the MICU
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support including ventilator adjustments and weaning
• Operate and monitor CRRT, SLED and EVD systems safely and effectively
• Perform and assist with invasive procedures such as central line and arterial line care, lumbar puncture monitoring, and chest tube management
• Document patient care accurately and timely in Meditech
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Advocate for patients and families, delivering attentive education and emotional support
• Adapt to changing unit needs including floating to med/surg assignments when required

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
• Demonstrated ventilator management experience
• Experience with CRRT, SLED, EVD and advanced hemodynamic monitoring preferred
• Comfortable with invasive line and chest tube care and associated procedures
• Strong assessment, communication and team collaboration skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ICU patient management
• Mechanical ventilator operation and troubleshooting
• Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and SLED experience
• External ventricular drain (EVD) care and monitoring
• Hemodynamic monitoring including EV1000 and arterial line management
• Central line care, chest tube management and lumbar puncture post-procedure monitoring
• Meditech electronic documentation and accurate charting
