Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered critical care in a 33-bed ICU, managing a typical 1:2-3 adult ratio
• Assess, monitor and interpret telemetry strips and document findings clearly and timely
• Titrate and manage drips (cardiac drips, insulin, sedation) per unit protocols and physician orders
• Troubleshoot respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilators and collaborate with Respiratory Therapy
• Provide trauma, cardiac, stroke and sepsis care with strong clinical judgment and timely interventions
• Float to PCU/MedSurg when needed, maintaining safe ratios and continuity of care
• Participate in unit orientation, mandatory competency checks and an open-book skills exam during onboarding

Qualifications

• Active RN license appropriate for practice in Nebraska (must be able to submit license at submittal)
• Minimum 2 years of recent critical care/ICU nursing experience preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
• Demonstrated ability to titrate drips and manage complex vasoactive infusions
• Experience with telemetry interpretation and documentation (GE monitors preferred)
• Comfort with EPIC charting and unit-specific documentation workflows
• Valid driver's license required at submittal to verify radius eligibility
• Willingness to comply with facility policies (including artificial-nail restrictions) and pass the orientation skills exam (90% pass required)

Education

• Active RN license in the state of practice
• BSN not required (BSN field shows not required); meet facility orientation requirements (12 hours orientation + unit-specific shift)
• Completion of required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care assessment and decision-making skills
• Telemetry strip interpretation and familiarity with GE monitoring systems
• Drip titration and infusion pump management
• Mechanical ventilator and high-flow/CPAP/BiPAP troubleshooting
• EPIC electronic health record proficiency
• Trauma, stroke and cardiac care knowledge, including post-stent and pacemaker patient management
• Ability to work collaboratively with RTs, tele techs and interdisciplinary teams
