Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and manage critically ill adult patients with compassion and clinical precision
• Monitor telemetry and respond to changes in cardiac rhythm and hemodynamic status
• Manage ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and advanced respiratory needs safely and confidently
• Perform and assist with procedures common to ICU care, including central line care and therapeutic phlebotomy
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech Expanse and communicate effectively with the care team
• Support patient experience initiatives and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in unit competency and education activities
• Provide safe transfusion care, post-dialysis assessments, and other advanced nursing interventions as needed

Qualifications

• Active nursing license in good standing (compact licensure accepted if applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience (required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH certification current and renewed annually
• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and telemetry monitoring
• Comfortable with advanced ICU skills: central line care, chest tubes, NG tubes, and blood transfusion
• Familiarity with Meditech Expanse or similar electronic documentation systems
• Ability to work nights, every other weekend, and float to related units when needed
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and commitment to patient-centered care

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and hemodynamic monitoring
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Ventilator management and respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP)
• Central line maintenance and care
• Experience with chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs, drains, and post-dialysis assessment
• Familiarity with Baxter pumps, iMobile systems, and glucometer use
• Therapeutic phlebotomy and physician-led paracentesis support
• Proficiency with Meditech Expanse electronic health record
