Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate care for immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients
• Perform and interpret hemodynamic monitoring using PA catheters and telemetry
• Manage advanced cardiac devices and therapies including ECMO, CentriMag and HM3 LVAD
• Support and perform unit procedures as appropriate, such as central line and Swan-Ganz insertions and intubation per policy
• Administer complex medication regimens and manage Alaris IV pumps and infusion devices
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Meditech
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including 24/7 intensivist coverage, to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care and device management

Qualifications

• Current RN license (eligible to work in Tennessee or compact license holder)
• Minimum 2 years of recent critical care nursing experience, CVICU experience strongly preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Demonstrated skills with PA catheters and hemodynamic monitoring
• Experience or comfort with ECMO, IABP, Impella, CRRT and LVAD care preferred
• Proven ability to perform or assist with central line insertion, Swan-Ganz placement and intubation per unit protocols
• Proficiency with Meditech documentation and bedside telemetry systems

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing principles and advanced cardiac post-operative care
• Hemodynamic assessment and management using PA catheters
• ECMO and mechanical circulatory support fundamentals
• LVAD patient management and troubleshooting (HM3 and similar devices)
• Use of bedside telemetry, Phillips monitoring and Alaris IV pump systems
• Familiarity with central line care, Swan-Ganz catheter use and ventilator basics
• Strong clinical judgment, rapid assessment and effective communication
