Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases
• Act as a strong patient advocate throughout the surgical experience
• Direct and supervise assigned personnel, ensuring safe and effective care
• Utilize the nursing process and established standards of care to inform clinical decisions
• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures to maintain a safe surgical environment
• Float to other departments as needed to support patient care before core staff is floated
• Participate in the unit's on-call rotation and respond as required

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) — title and role explicitly required
• Experience in perioperative nursing (preoperative, intraoperative, postoperative care)
• Comfort with serving as a circulating nurse and with patient advocacy in the OR
• Ability to float to other departments where qualified and to participate in on-call rotations
• Experience directing or supervising assigned staff in a clinical setting

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing practices and the nursing process
• Standards of care and policy/procedure compliance in surgical settings
• Circulating nurse responsibilities, including intraoperative support
• Strong patient advocacy and communication skills
• Ability to supervise and coordinate assigned personnel
