Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity nursing care to immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including those on ECMO, CentriMag, and HM3 LVADs
• Monitor and interpret invasive hemodynamics using PA catheters and advanced monitoring to guide treatment decisions
• Perform and assist with procedures such as central line insertion, Swan-Ganz insertion, and endotracheal intubation when indicated
• Manage complex device therapies including IABP, Impella, and CRRT with vigilance and expertise
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech and communicate changes in condition to the multidisciplinary team
• Collaborate with intensivists, surgeons, and unit staff to maintain optimal patient ratios and continuity of care
• Act as a dependable team member who can float to other ICUs as needed and support a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Active RN license (must be eligible to practice in TN — compact license accepted if applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of critical care/CVICU nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
• Demonstrated experience with PA catheter management and hemodynamic monitoring (required)
• Experience caring for ECMO, CentriMag, and LVAD (HM3) patients preferred
• Familiarity with IABP, Impella, and CRRT is a plus
• Comfort performing/assisting with airway management and central line/Swan-Ganz procedures

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong hemodynamic assessment and titration skills
• Proficiency with telemetry monitors and Phillips bedside monitoring systems
• Experience using Meditech for documentation
• Skillful use of Alaris IV infusion pumps and high-acuity pump management
• Ability to manage mechanical circulatory support devices (ECMO, CentriMag, HM3 LVAD)
• Competence with PA catheters and Swan-Ganz monitoring
• Clear clinical judgment, critical thinking, and effective interdisciplinary communication
• Flexibility to float and adapt to unit staffing needs
