Shift Type: Monday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (day). Alternate option: 1 day per week Monday or Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM (10-hour day). Two-week training period required.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality psychiatric assessments and diagnostic evaluations for patients in the mental health area
• Manage psychopharmacologic treatments and monitor medication efficacy and safety
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, psychology and correctional staff to coordinate care
• Document clinical encounters clearly and timely in the patient record
• Participate in training and orientation activities during the required two-week training period
• Contribute to treatment planning and recommendations that improve patient outcomes in a correctional setting

Qualifications

• Active MD or DO degree with psychiatry training
• Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry preferred
• Valid California medical license or eligibility to obtain one
• Willingness and ability to complete a two-week on-site training/orientation
• Comfort working in a correctional healthcare environment and passing required background checks
• Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills

Education

• MD or DO in Psychiatry

Knowledge & Skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of psychopharmacology and psychiatric treatment modalities
• Experience with psychiatric assessment, risk evaluation and crisis intervention
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Familiarity with clinical documentation and electronic medical records
• Cultural sensitivity and effective communication with diverse patient populations
• Ability to follow security protocols and operate within a correctional healthcare setting
