Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations with professionalism and attention to detail
• Conduct Separation Health Assessments and one-time, non-treatment evaluations
• Lead interview-based histories and perform focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Compose clear, timely reports and complete any required addendums or medical opinions
• Review diagnostics and incorporate findings into objective, evidence-based exam conclusions
• Follow VES protocols and complete required training and onboarding activities
• Maintain accurate documentation and timely submission of records in the assigned portal

Qualifications

• MD or DO (or equivalent) with active state medical license
• Board certification or clinical background in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or General Medicine preferred
• Experience or demonstrated ability to perform focused physical assessments and write clear medical reports
• Comfort with interview-based evaluations and one-time non-treatment exams (C&P experience a plus)
• Ability to complete credentialing/onboarding promptly and follow required training
• If working at a VES facility: residence within roughly a 50-mile radius of the assignment; if using your own office: office within a 50-mile radius of the listed city

Education

• MD or DO required; relevant board certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in interview-based clinical assessment and focused physical exam techniques
• Range of motion and muscle strength testing competency
• Report writing, addendums and preparing medical opinions with clarity
• Ability to read and interpret diagnostic reports
• Familiarity with compensation & pension exam processes or willingness to learn
• Comfort using electronic portals/EMR systems for documentation
• Excellent communication skills and professional bedside manner
