Roles & Responsibilities

• Diagnose and stage a variety of cancers using clinical assessment, imaging and lab data
• Develop individualized treatment plans integrating chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation and targeted therapies as appropriate
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment protocols to optimize outcomes
• Manage treatment-related side effects and provide comprehensive supportive care
• Educate and counsel patients and families about diagnoses, options and expected outcomes
• Provide emotional support and guidance throughout the patient’s cancer journey
• Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, oncology nurses, nurse practitioners and navigators to coordinate multidisciplinary care
• Participate in clinical trials, research efforts and quality-improvement projects to advance oncology care
• Mentor and guide staff and contribute to department planning and initiatives

Qualifications

• MD or DO (Staff MD in Oncology) — medical degree required
• Oncology clinical experience with outpatient chemotherapy and treatment planning
• Comfortable managing immunotherapy, targeted therapies and radiation coordination
• Experience or interest in participating in clinical trials and research activities
• Strong communication skills for patient education, counseling and multidisciplinary collaboration
• Willingness to mentor and participate in quality improvement initiatives
• Candidates must be able to commute within 1 hour of Brattleboro
• Not accepting visa candidates (US work authorization required)
• Position is not open to LOCUM or LOCUM-to-PERM candidates and not to be held in conjunction with another position

Education

• MD or DO (Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy)
• Training in oncology (as appropriate for a Staff MD role)

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of cancer diagnosis, staging and treatment planning
• Skill in chemotherapy and supportive care management
• Familiarity with immunotherapy, targeted therapies and coordination with radiation oncology
• Ability to manage and mitigate treatment side effects
• Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams and coordinating care
• Patient education and counseling skills with empathy and clarity
• Participation in clinical trials, research methodology and quality improvement principles
• Leadership, mentoring and effective clinical documentation
