Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients in an acute care hospital setting and determine individualized treatment plans
• Develop and implement evidence-based care plans to improve function and outcomes
• Document patient evaluations, progress and plans accurately in Cerner PowerChart
• Supervise and coordinate therapeutic care, including collaboration with PTAs, OTs, speech therapists and rehab techs
• Use appropriate therapeutic techniques and patient lifting equipment safely and effectively
• Communicate evaluation results and progress clearly with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams
• Provide patient and family education to support discharge planning and home safety

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina license to practice Physical Therapy (must have)
• Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• At least 1 year acute care experience preferred; acute care/orthopedics/neurology/cardiopulmonary experience helpful
• Comfortable working with 1:1 patient ratios in an inpatient rehab environment
• Ability to work the specified weekend-forward schedule and adhere to unit-specific policies

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in patient evaluation and care plan development
• Proficient with documentation in Cerner PowerChart
• Experience with therapeutic supervision and coordinating multidisciplinary care
• Familiarity with acute care procedures and equipment (SARA+, Stedy, Maximove, walkers, gait belts)
• Clinical knowledge in orthopedics, neurology and cardiopulmonary care
• Strong communication, clinical reasoning and patient education skills
