Physical Therapist - Acute Inpatient

Location: Bakersfield, CA

Start Date: 06-13-2026

End Date: 09-12-2026

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (occasional shift 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM once a week); rotating weekends every third weekend with Monday and Friday off that week

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $59 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Evaluate and treat patients with orthopedic, neurological, and medical/surgical conditions in an acute inpatient setting
Cover Medical/Surgical, ICU, and ER units as needed
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Coordinate with interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
Document patient progress and maintain accurate records
Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises and discharge planning

Qualifications

Current California Physical Therapy license
BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Acute inpatient physical therapy experience required
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Knowledge & Skills

Orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation
Acute care patient management
Interdisciplinary collaboration
Patient education and family training
Proficient in EMR documentation
