Roles & Responsibilities

• Room patients and take accurate vital signs to support safe, efficient visits
• Prepare patients and assist providers during examinations and minor procedures
• Document clinical information and visit details clearly in the electronic health record
• Perform point-of-care testing and basic phlebotomy as directed
• Manage front-office tasks like scheduling follow-ups and coordinating referrals
• Educate patients on medications, aftercare, and preventive health in a compassionate way
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and ensure equipment is ready for use

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program consistent with Medical Board of California requirements
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant
• Completion of externship required by the Medical Assisting Program
• NHA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) required
• NHA Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) required
• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association required
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with externship

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient care and clinical support skills
• Comfortable taking vitals, performing point-of-care testing, and basic phlebotomy
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate documentation practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and team members
• Ability to multitask in a busy clinic while maintaining attention to detail
• Customer service mindset and professionalism in patient interactions
• Cultural sensitivity and, ideally, Spanish language skills
