Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform screening and diagnostic mammography with accuracy and compassion to support early detection
• Assist with and perform stereotactic biopsies and pre-surgical localizations following sterile technique
• Operate digital mammography and tomosynthesis equipment (GE Senographe Pristina) and perform magnification and spot compression views
• Perform Contrast Enhanced Mammography as required by the unit
• Collaborate with radiologists to demonstrate and discuss complicated mammographic cases
• Document procedures and patient encounters thoroughly in Cerner and Penrad
• Provide thoughtful, patient-centered care in a women’s imaging setting, mindful of patients with prior cancer treatments
• Float to other breast centers as needed to ensure seamless patient care across sites

Qualifications

• Current ARRT Mammography certification (R and M) required
• Minimum 2+ years of mammography experience (screening and diagnostic)
• BLS certification required
• IV certification and competence in invasive/sterile procedures required
• Comfortable demonstrating complex cases to radiologists and working in a busy breast center
• Up-to-date MQSA compliance: initial 40 hours of mammography training, continuing education currency, and required mammography case numbers

Education

• MQSA-compliant mammography training (initial 40 hours) and required continuing education
• 8 hours digital mammography training and 8 hours digital tomosynthesis training (as specified by unit)

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in screening mammography and advanced mammography imaging techniques
• Skilled in magnification and spot compression views and digital tomosynthesis
• Experience with stereotactic biopsy workflow and pre-surgical localization procedures
• Familiarity with Cerner and Penrad documentation systems
• Strong patient communication and sensitivity in women’s imaging
• Ability to multi-task in a high-volume breast center environment and work well within a team
