Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure surgical instruments and supplies are ready for cardiovascular and vascular procedures
• Assist surgeons and scrub team during CVOR cases with precision and proactive anticipation of needs
• Perform instrument counts, handle specimens correctly, and document procedures accurately
• Respond promptly and professionally when on-call to support urgent and emergent cases
• Participate in specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain high-quality care
• Collaborate closely with circulating team members, anesthesia, and nursing leadership to promote smooth case flow and patient safety

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• BLS certification required
• Experience in CVOR or cardiovascular/vascular surgical cases preferred
• Ability to provide required license/certificate verification
• Willingness to complete facility-specific Trinity Specialty Competency Testing and Skills Checklist
• Able to meet health screening requirements (fit test, drug screen, immunizations, PPD/IGRA, etc.)
• Comfortable providing call coverage (approximately 14 days per month)

Education

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of cardiovascular and vascular instrumentation and supplies
• Expertise in sterile technique and operating room protocols
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-pressure environments
• Ability to prioritize tasks and anticipate surgical team needs
• Familiarity with specialty competency testing and documentation processes
• Dependable, punctual, and able to respond while on-call
