Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy services under the direction of an OT to help patients regain independence
• Assess patient abilities and develop individualized treatment plans focused on meaningful daily activities
• Lead therapeutic activities and adaptive techniques to improve ADLs, mobility, and cognitive function
• Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
• Document patient progress clearly and timely, ensuring compliance with facility and regulatory standards
• Educate patients and families on home programs and safety to support long-term success

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Current state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure in South Dakota
• Minimum experience working in post-acute, long-term care, or skilled nursing settings preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements
• Strong interpersonal skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (Associate degree or OTA diploma)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ADL training, transfers, and restorative nursing programs
• Proficient documentation and time management to meet productivity and compliance standards
• Knowledge of adaptive equipment and home safety recommendations
• Ability to modify treatment plans based on patient progress and tolerance
• Comfort collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and family caregivers
