Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, post-operative care to CVICU and open-heart surgery patients
• Continuously monitor hemodynamics and cardiac telemetry and respond to changes quickly
• Administer medications, titrate drips, and manage complex infusions with precision
• Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, respiratory therapy and the interdisciplinary team
• Perform assessments, document thoroughly in the EMR, and support smooth handoffs
• Lead rapid response and emergency interventions when needed
• Educate patients and families about recovery, procedures and discharge planning
• Complete Trinity specialty competency testing and maintain required clinical checklists

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential (verification required)
• Open heart/CVICU experience required — demonstrated ability in post-op cardiac care
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
• Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Must complete required health screenings: Fit Test; 2-step PPD or IGRA; 10-panel drug screen; color vision; COVID-19 vaccine; MMR; Hepatitis B; Influenza vaccine; Varicella; Physical/Health Statement
• License and certificate verification will be required prior to start

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of cardiac physiology, hemodynamic monitoring and post-op cardiac protocols
• Proficiency with telemetry interpretation and ventilator/airway management
• Skilled in medication management, titration of vasoactive drips and critical care infusions
• Excellent critical thinking and rapid assessment skills in high-acuity settings
• Effective communication and teamwork with surgeons, intensivists and ancillary staff
• Accurate EMR documentation and handoff communication
• Comfort with specialty competency testing and adherence to infection control practices
