Shift Type: Variable rotating shifts (8- or 12-hour), scheduled 80 hours per 2-week period; exact start/end times assigned by manager upon arrival; includes one on-call shift per roster, at least one weekend off per roster, may float to other units as needed (day/night/rotating coverage).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for adults and pediatric patients in a fast-paced ED
• Lead and participate in stroke, STEMI and trauma activations to rapidly coordinate life-saving care
• Perform and document proficient IV therapy and other emergency procedures independently and efficiently
• Use Meditech EMR to accurately chart patient assessments, interventions and outcomes
• Adhere to core measures and National Patient Safety Goals to ensure regulatory and quality standards
• Communicate compassionately with patients and families using AIDET principles and excellent customer service
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and float to other units as needed based on clinical ability

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Hawaii required by the assignment start (applicants not currently licensed in HI must apply upon acceptance)
• More than 2 years of nursing experience (emergency or acute care experience preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS required; PALS, TNCC and NIHSS mandatory
• Strong IV skills and comfort with procedural sedation (NCI and Procedural Sedation requested but not mandatory)
• Experience with stroke, STEMI and trauma activations and familiarity with core measures and Press Ganey expectations
• Ability to work independently, multitask, and provide calm, decisive care in emergencies

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and triage best practices
• Meditech EMR proficiency for documentation and orders
• Familiarity with LifePak defibrillators, Braun IV pumps and Philips monitoring systems
• Experience using Motorola radio systems for unit communication
• Strong multitasking, prioritization and independent decision-making skills
• Customer-focused communication aligned with AIDET and patient satisfaction goals
