Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage patients quickly and accurately to ensure the sickest patients receive immediate attention
• Perform thorough patient assessments and initiate appropriate emergency interventions
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following physician orders and protocols
• Maintain order and patient flow during peak surges so the department runs smoothly
• Collaborate closely with ED physicians and the care team to coordinate patient care
• Participate in performance improvement activities to help elevate patient outcomes
• Assist other hospital nursing areas as census permits, contributing to a flexible care team
• Document patient care clearly and professionally to support continuity and quality

Qualifications

• Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
• Minimum of one (1) year of emergency department experience
• Ability to prioritize and respond to multiple demands during high-acuity situations
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary staff

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and triage best practices
• Patient assessment and rapid clinical decision making
• Cardiac life support and advanced resuscitation skills (ACLS, PALS)
• CPR proficiency and emergency procedures
• Patient flow management and multi-tasking in a high-volume ED
• Performance improvement processes and quality-focused care delivery
• Comfort working nights and maintaining department stability during surges
