Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients quickly and accurately to determine immediate needs and prioritize care.
• Develop and implement individualized plans of care that improve patient outcomes.
• Provide focused, evidence-based emergency and trauma nursing interventions.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and the healthcare team to coordinate seamless care.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and post-discharge care.
• Participate in stroke and trauma protocols, including timely identification and management of acute stroke.
• Maintain required competencies and complete assigned education per DNV and Bozeman Health policies.
• Serve as a leader at the bedside by promoting patient safety, quality improvement and best practices.

Qualifications

• Current Montana RN licensure (required)
• American Heart Association BLS (required)
• American Heart Association ACLS (required)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (required)
• American Heart Association PALS or ENPC certification (required)
• Minimum 1 year emergency nursing or critical care experience (required)
• Competence in and willingness to practice modified primary nursing
• Stroke competency and completion of required stroke/trauma education
• Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and on-call

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Care planning and implementation in fast-paced emergency settings
• Trauma care, pediatric emergency care and stroke care expertise
• Comfort with on-call response and variable shift work
• Excellent communication, teamwork and emotional intelligence
• Ability to perform under pressure with sound judgment and professionalism
• Familiarity with DNV requirements and registry-driven education expectations
