Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide individualized nursing care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Assume responsibility for patient outcomes during your assigned shift and coordinate handoffs clearly
• Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver total patient care
• Apply age-related protocols to meet the physical and psychological needs of patients across the lifespan
• Document thoroughly and accurately in the EMR; currently MediTech Expanse with transition to EPIC planned
• Participate in holiday and weekend rotations and adapt to fluctuating departmental needs
• Support quality improvement and safety initiatives in the Emergency Department

Qualifications

• Current Iowa RN license (required)
• BLS and ACLS required (ACLS available in-house; must have or obtain within first year)
• Previous ED or ICU/critical care experience preferred; at minimum one year Med/Surg experience required
• Willingness to obtain TNCC, PALS, NCI, and HAZMAT within the first year if not already certified
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and participating in weekend/holiday rotations
• Familiarity with MediTech Expanse; readiness to transition to EPIC is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and critical care skills with strong assessment and triage ability
• Proficiency using MediTech Expanse and adaptability to EPIC during system transition
• Solid grounding in the nursing process and age-related patient protocols
• Experience with Med/Surg fundamentals and handling high-acuity patients
• Certifications/skills: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, NCI, HAZMAT (as required or to be obtained)
