Roles & Responsibilities
- Implement components of individualized patient care under PT direction to help patients make meaningful progress
- Collect and document treatment data accurately to inform clinical decisions
- Collaborate closely with the PT to modify care plans for the best outcomes
- Assist patients with transfers and therapeutic exercises to improve mobility and safety
- Teach patients and families at-home techniques to extend gains beyond sessions
- Provide balance and gait training that helps restore independence
- Maintain a clean, organized therapy space and ensure safe use of equipment
- Complete administrative tasks like scheduling and paperwork to keep the team running smoothly
- Use modalities and ACP equipment safely and effectively as part of rehab plans
Qualifications
- Active PTA license (PTA license) — required
- Missouri state license (Compact allowed) — required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification — required
- Minimum 1 year of PTA experience — required
- Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or inpatient rehab — required
- Comfort working with a wide variety of orthopedic and neurological diagnoses
- Reliable communication skills for working with patients, families, and the therapy team
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient care and assistive transfers with a focus on safety and dignity
- Therapeutic exercise prescription and progression
- Balance training and gait training techniques
- Strong documentation practices to capture outcomes and plan updates
- Patient and family education to support home programs
- Familiarity with orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation approaches
- Experience using modalities and ACP equipment
- Basic scheduling and administrative skills to support clinic flow
