Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating nights, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM (overnight), scheduled for 36-48 hours/week; night shift (call: NA). Requested time off must be submitted and verified at upload (no more than 5 days RTO).
Hours per Week: 38
Candidate Pay Rate: $67 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric behavioral health patients
- Use evidence-based de-escalation techniques to safely manage agitated patients
- Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC for continuity and patient safety
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
- Administer medications and monitor patient response while adhering to safety protocols
- Maintain clear communication with patients and families to support therapeutic care
- Support unit workflows including admissions, discharges, and patient transitions
- Participate in required onboarding, training, and competency checks (including non-billable orientation)
Qualifications
- Active New York RN license (must be current at time of submission)
- New York Temporary Health Care Service Agency License/Registration Certificate required and must be uploaded with your profile
- Minimum 2+ years of Behavioral Health Unit experience
- Current BLS (AHA)
- De-escalation training/certification required (CPI, Welle, NAPPI, or equivalent) — completion required for onboarding
- EPIC experience (explicitly listed on profile is required)
- Recent travel assignment experience (required)
- Own reliable vehicle (firm requirement)
- Negative 14-panel drug screen (or higher) within 24 hours of offer acceptance (must be able to produce results)
- Reliable attendance history with no recent attendance concerns
- One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Behavioral health nursing best practices and crisis intervention
- Verbal de-escalation and non-physical management techniques
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record documentation
- Medication administration and patient monitoring in psychiatric settings
- Strong clinical observation, triage, and patient assessment skills
- Clear, compassionate communication and therapeutic rapport building
- Ability to work in a fast-paced unit and adapt to fluctuating census (average daily census ~20, RN:patient ratio up to 1:9)
- Adherence to facility policies including dress code and orientation requirements
