Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate critical care to CVICU and post-op cardiac patients
• Continuously monitor hemodynamics and recognize/act on changes quickly
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Administer and titrate IV medications and infusions per protocol and physician orders
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and care plans in the medical record
• Participate in codes and urgent responses, bringing calm, skilled leadership in emergencies
• Educate patients and families about care plans, recovery expectations, and discharge needs

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (ability to practice in Texas required)
• Minimum 1 year of CVICU or equivalent critical care experience (as listed in job)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced critical care environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of cardiac critical care principles and post-operative cardiac management
• Proficiency with hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Experience with ventilator management and advanced airway care
• Familiarity with infusion pumps, arterial/central lines, and related ICU equipment
• Able to prioritize, multitask, and maintain accurate documentation
