Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based cardiac critical care for CVICU patients including AMI, CAD, PVD and post-op cardiac surgery
• Manage invasive devices and advanced therapies such as IABP, CRRT and assist devices like Impella when indicated
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and manage dysrhythmias promptly; maintain competency via required dysrhythmia assessment
• Titrate vasoactive and sedative drips (Dexmedetomidine, Propofol, Dopamine, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Levo, Insulin, Cardene) according to protocol
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support (Vents, BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, HiFlow) in collaboration with RTs
• Deliver thorough, accurate documentation in Cerner and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and intensivists
• Serve as a flexible team member who can float to ICU/PCU/MS/Telemetry across campuses as unit needs dictate
• Fulfill assigned weekend, holiday, and limited call responsibilities per contract to support continuous patient care

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (able to work in Arizona) and current basic credentials for practice as an RN
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• More than 2 years of CVICU or cardiac critical care experience (posting states unit must have more than two years)
• Hands-on experience with IABP and CRRT and recent post-op OR cardiac surgery experience preferred
• Proficiency in titration of drips and ventilator management
• Must take and pass the unit dysrhythmia exam (80% required) within two attempts prior to contract signing
• Willingness to work holidays and required weekend shifts; able to participate in limited call per contract (max per posting)
• Candidates must meet facility radius/employment restrictions: not employed full-time/part-time/PRN with any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility within the past year
• If applying as part of a travel duo, each clinician must have their own vehicle and schedules will not be matched

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
• BSN not required (ADN or diploma acceptable as per posting)

• Cardiac ICU / CVICU clinical care and post-op cardiac surgery management
• Rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Titration of vasoactive and sedative drips
• Advanced hemodynamic/device support (IABP, Impella familiarity desirable)
• Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) knowledge
• Mechanical ventilation and noninvasive respiratory support management
• Telemetry monitoring (Nihon Kohden) and bedside strip interpretation by RNs
• Electronic charting in Cerner
