Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Step-Down Unit (SDU)
• Assess, monitor and document patient conditions, responding promptly to changes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate effective care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and efficiently per protocol
• Educate patients and families on condition, treatment plans and discharge instructions
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement efforts to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Louisiana
• Clinical experience or demonstrated competency in a Step-Down Unit (SDU) environment preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) highly recommended
• Strong assessment, critical thinking and communication skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shift blocks and collaborate effectively with the care team

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical assessment and monitoring of intermediate-acuity patients
• Familiarity with SDU protocols, telemetry and post-ICU care needs
• Medication administration and IV/infusion management
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and teamwork
• Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation best practices
• Prioritization and time management in a fast-paced inpatient setting
