Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the internal risk management program to protect patients and the organization
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations by investigating, evaluating, and reporting adverse incidents
• Lead the organization-wide patient safety program and drive process improvements to reduce adverse outcomes
• Plan and facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) with cross-functional teams
• Coordinate disclosure of adverse incidents and ensure compassionate follow-up with patients, families, and care teams
• Conduct chart audits, clinical reviews, and data-supported evaluations to inform quality improvement
• Facilitate Patient Safety Rounds and deliver targeted risk management and patient-safety education
• Collaborate with Medical Directors, Chief Medical Officer, and corporate counsel on peer review and quality-of-care issues
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory standards (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF) and monitor legal and technology advances affecting compliance
• Serve as a mentor and resource for staff, and provide cross-coverage for other Quality Management team roles

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted, active Registered Nursing license in Alaska (required)
• Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) required within two years if not already certified
• Clinical competency demonstrated within 3 months of hire and maintained every 3 years
• Minimum 3 years experience monitoring risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
• Proven leadership experience facilitating cross-functional teams and working collaboratively across disciplines
• Comfort working with regulatory reporting processes and engaging with patients and families around disclosures
